Do you spring out of bed in the morning, enthused and excited for the day ahead and ready to tackle what ever life throws at you? Do you maintain this enthusiasm throughout the day? Is your mind clear and your body able to overcome any challenges that come your way?

If this is you I would bet my house that you have a good baseline of physical fitness and your overall health is in order. How can I be so confident you ask?

Growing up there have been periods of my life where I have been active, eaten well and had positive relationships. There have also been times when I have been inactive, eaten poorly, messed around with alcohol (and drugs) which in turn lead to me having poorly functioning relationships.

Comparing one period to the other and looking at both how I felt mentally and physically during those times confirmed the idea that living an active and healthy lifestyle brought me more happiness and made me feel better overall. It just makes sense. Not to mention the fact that I was more productive, had more energy to tackle daily activities, had more (and better) friends and enjoyed life more.

When your diet is on point your body has the nutrients it requires to produce energy, balance hormones, repair itself, sustain cognitive function and survive. When it’s not all of these factors (and more) are negatively effected.

When you are active your body is continually adapting to whatever it is you’re doing to ensure that you can do it better next time. Once you become fitter, faster and stronger all the little things in your life become easier. Walking up the stairs, moving house, doing the gardening or running away from your nagging spouse (just kidding!!) become a walk in the park.

My point is that if you wish to be more productive, more energetic, improve your ability to deal with stress, sleep better, have better relationships and be the happiest you can be, you HAVE to look after the health of your body and your mind.

It is time we all woke up and started to evolve and change our thinking so that we can improve our lives from the inside out. Evolve to focus on being the best version of ourselves that we can be so that we can have a positive impact on the world around us.

I’m not saying you can’t get by without caring about your health or fitness but I will ask you this:

Are you okay with just getting by?

Cheers,

O.H
